7 important things to do to achieve your goals and keep your life in balance

“You don’t set out to build a wall. You don’t say, ‘I’m going to build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall that’s ever been built.’ You don’t start there. You say, ‘I’m going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid.’ You do that every single day. And soon you have a wall.” – Will Smith

Credibility, satisfaction, self-confidence, creativity, motivation, self-actualization, knowledge, health, respect, financial independence… Do some of these word synch with you? If they do, keep reading.

The whole is much more than just the sum of its individual parts

How much time you invest in yourself and relationships with people who are important to you, that is how good your life will be. You can—and you have to—work on more than one thing simultaneously if you want to keep your life in balance. Reaching your goals at the price of ruined health or broken friendships does not make a lot of sense.

7 important things to do to achieve your goals and keep your life in balance:

  1. Don’t listen to naysayers and pesimists. It is your life. They will drag you down, intentionally or not. Ignore them and do what you have to do.
  2. Write down your life goals (all of them, not only the financial ones). Create a plan and work on it daily. Apply the 80/20 rule to everything you do.
  3. Keep the balance between your work and family. Prioritize who and what is important to you.
  4. Manage your time and energy. Create a precise schedule and stick to it. Different things are done better in different parts of the day.
  5. Connect with people of the same interests. Make your LinkedIn profile and join groups on LinkedIn, Facebook, etc. This way, you will find all the information you need and create useful contacts.
  6. Always look for new information and learn what you need. Get practical books and courses that you can use immediately.
  7. Keep yourself healthy. Sleep enough, eat well and exercise moderately. Lack of energy = lack of motivation.

Conclusion

Daydreaming will get you nowhere. Take the first step. Get informed. Watch, listen, and read everything that helps. Connect with people and see how they do it. One book, one person, or one e-mail can change your whole life. Don’t be afraid of changes; they are a normal part of life. Goal-achieving and fear of change don’t work well together. Just keep moving forward.
